Milagro Foundation Supports Isabel Allende's Chilean Earthquake Relief Fund
On Saturday February 27, 2010 Chile was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude registering 8.8 on the Richter scale resulting in an estimated number of more than 800 dead, millions of others injured, a high number of missing persons, and over 500 homes with severe damages.
The Chilean government has prioritized rebuilding hospitals, schools, bridges, roads, and other key infrastructure. There is still an urgent need to care for homeless Chileans.
Since February, and for the next few months, The Isabel Allende Foundation will be accepting charitable contributions restricted for the purposes of Chilean earthquake relief. The Foundation will distribute these funds to organizations acting swiftly and in collaboration with the government to provide shelter and other humanitarian assistance.
The Isabel Allende Foundation has contributed $500,000, as well as several other grants from generous donors. The Milagro Foundation is one of those supporters, granting The Isabel Allende Foundation $10,000 to help provide Chilean families with housing solutions.
Donations to the Chile Earthquake Relief Fund at the Isabel Allende Foundation can be made online or by mailing a check to:
Isabel Allende Foundation 116 Caledonia Street Sausalito, CA 94965.
