New friends, and a fantastic resource to the Milagro Foundation's Kellogg GrowingGreat projects in Marin City, AIM has helped provide an increase in Southern Marin's access to healthy food and has assisted in creating a welcoming community hub. The Market has been open since June, and ends it's trial period in October. The Marin City Farmer's Market provides Southern Marin with a Saturday Farmers Market.
Scholastic Books has generously donated 1000 children's books to two of Milagro's agencies, The Marin City Health and Wellness Center and the Marin Community Clinic. This donation promotes literacy and the love of learning among young children. By giving a book to a child during their health visit, we are helping to create and build home libraries for children who may have very few books in their homes.
In celebration of Earth Day and in the spirit of Carlos Santana’s continued environmental and humanitarian efforts, Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through the Hits partnered with Project Sole, a nonprofit formed to collect durable footwear for communities in-need. Fans were encouraged to recycle their gently-used shoes during Santana's performances at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino from April 21 through May 2, 2010 to support worldwide disaster relief. As a "thank you" to those who donated, fashionable shoe brands Carlos by Carlos Santana and Unity by Carlos Santana offered a generous discount of 20 percent off their merchandise. Thanks to Project Sole this event also raised funds for The Milagro Foundation.
Central Payment has generously donated $10,000 to the Milagro Foundation in support of the GrowingGreat Marin City project which works with the Sausalito Marin City School District to bring nutrition education and access to healthy foods to Marin City's children, families and community. Matthew Hyman, Central Payment's Managing Partner shares what inspired Central Payment to demonstrate support, "In business, we continue to stress to all of our employees and sales partners that the act of giving back to your community is vitally important. GrowingGreat applies that same philosophy by encouraging families that are less fortunate than others to participate in their community. The combination of a healthy lifestyle and a nurturing environment is imperative for all of us and we are proud to be able to support them."
